On a dark winter evening, the Rose islet (Roosisaar), lit up with lights, is like a small world of its own in the middle of Põltsamaa. This pathway takes you on a small walk along the riverbank. The route goes through the Põltsamaa beach area, passes the Women’s islet Bridge (Naistesaare sild) and continues to the Parvei or Church Hill Bridge (Parvei ehk Kirikumäe sild) and from there across the river, offering beautiful views and a pleasant ride on the way back.

If you feel like gliding on skates, Estonia’s only speed-skating oval is just a 10-minute drive from Põltsamaa, located in Adavere — an especially ideal spot for speed skating. The 250-metre-long and 10-metre-wide skating track is situated at the Adavere Manor School stadium. There is also a skate rental on site, where you can rent skates if you don’t have your own. 

The pedestrian and cycling path to Pajusi

About a 1.5-hour walk from the centre of Põltsamaa lies a small village called Pajusi. If you’re looking for a simple and pleasant walk, the pedestrian and cycling path from Põltsamaa to Pajusi is the perfect choice. The path leads you directly to the manor complex, where you can admire the architecture of the buildings before heading back the same way — just the right amount of outdoor activity to reach your daily step count.

To enjoy a winter view of the lake, it’s worth taking a one-hour walk from Põltsamaa to the lake Kamari. A convenient pedestrian and cycling path leads from the town to Kamari, making it easy to stroll at a comfortable pace.
