This terrific name “Kördiööbik” comes from a a school, which operated in the park area before the war. This school taught girls to cook, sew and knit. Additionaly, the girls (also named as”kördikeetjad” – gruel cookers) were supposed to sing like nightingales (“ööbik” – Estonian). So, gruel (kört) + nightingale (ööbik) gave the park its name: Kördiööbiku.
